  2. Kinda sad to have the kids go back to school - but relieved at at the same time to get our house back in a routine.

  3. No kids yet, and I just graduated law school in May, so no school for anyone in my house today! It feels so strange! :)

  4. Terrified for my SN kiddo, super excited to start homeschooling my daughters, bittersweet to see my 4yo go off to PK. Little bit of everything!

  5. Seeing as how my little one is only 13 months old, I'm just excited to see all the other kiddos going to school! I used to get super excited as a kid and I love seeing everyone with their new backbacks and jeans with no holes in them yet. I think when my son gets to that age I'll be sad... until I get used to the day to myself! :)

  6. My son goes to a Mother's Day Out program. I am always excited for him to go! He needs the break and so do I! :)

  9. I have to tell ya, my baby graduated last year and when it came time to school shop this year, I was THRILLED! My bff has a 6 and 2 year old though and she is homeschooling. I get to enjoy the madness without being tied to it!

  10. I am excited to get back into the routine of school...and very excited that my children all have excellent teachers this year. I am sad, in a selfish way, that they are going to 3 different schools.

  11. I'm not sure how I feel about sending my oldest off to school, yet - ask me tomorrow!

  17. When my kids were little I was sad when they all went to school. After they left, I walked in everyone's room. It made me sad they were not at home with me. I miss those days.

  19. I only have one kid, and she is not back in school yet. We're cramming in all of our things on our summer list in these last 2 weeks so we are having a ball! Horseback riding today, yay! I think we'll be ready when school comes though, but I'm not looking forward to the morning scramble! We'd probably better start going to bed earlier soon.

  25. I have mixed emotions. My six-year-old daughter is starting full day school tomorrow, so it'll be just me and my three-year-old home all day. I'm excited for my daughter, but sort of nervous about what my son and I will be doing to keep ourselves entertained. And, my daughter is nervous for school, so I'm nervous for her.

  26. I Liked your FB page (and am glad you mentioned it, I didn't notice that you had one). :)

  29. My little one just turned 2, but we've started working with him on pre-school stuff since it's never to early! He's counting to ten, got most of his ABC's down and can spell his name! :) I love how quickly he picks up on things!

  31. I was sad today..sometimes I wish my boys were still babies.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  37. Well, at first I was excited that all 4 were going back to school! Then when the day came I got really sad. Its been 3 days now and I'm still lonely, but I'm getting so much stuff done!! So, I guess I'm excited, sad, lonely, and happy all rolled into one.

    ReplyDelete

    ReplyDelete
  40. I am sad but happy Davin is back in school. it means no more bickering constantly with his sister and some alone time with Maggie, but it also means no more sleeping in for me. I am so torn!

    ReplyDelete
  41. I have mixed emotions...the kids went back to school today, on one hand the bickering in my home will dramatically reduce! and on the other hand I lose my big helpers that always help me chase down the little girls or help me clean up a mess that they made. :(

    ReplyDelete
  42. I love back to school time! This year is one of my nephew's first years at "big school". With all the things he could have been worrying about, all he could think of was "what if I can't find the pencil sharpener?!" So cute!

    ReplyDelete
  43. Thank goodness Olivia is not old enough for school! And even if she was, I would like to think we will homeschool her, since I was. Otherwise, I would miss her terribly!! The thought of possibly getting one of your coupon binders is exciting!

    ReplyDelete
  46. My kids are not in school yet, they are in daycare. I have to say I am very happy that my four year old is not in school yet....I am not ready for him to grow up!

    ReplyDelete
  47. I'm excited for school to start. Although I only have a one year old, the reason I'm excited for school to start is that it won't be as crowded at places like The Children's Museum, the Zoo, or the mall play areas. Yay!

    ReplyDelete
  48. I am both happy and sad. I am happy to have the routine back, because I cannot keep one myself at home, but I am sad because I miss them all day.

    ReplyDelete
  49. We do "hybrid" school and started Aug. 17. (My daughter is homeschooled 3 days a week and attends a private school for homeschoolers 2 days a week. How dorky am I - I am more excited about this giveaway than the iPad giveaway I saw on another blog!

    ReplyDelete
  59. My older two are both now attending school full time and my 3 year old is in early preschool classes two days a week. I am loving having just two little girls at home twice a week. I almost forgot how easy it was to run errands with only two kids in tow!:)

  63. I am excited to have my three oldest back in school! They are driving each other crazy this morning!!! I am looking forward to all they will learn this year, and especially the field trips! I am also looking forward to having more time to spend with my two little ones!

    ReplyDelete
  64. My 5 year old started today and it was hard to leave her there. I am not use to all day long kindergarten. I think she will be fine. It is me I have to worry about. Since our attempts to have more kids has not been on our time it will definitely be quiet in my house.

I am sure that after a couple weeks I will get use to it and enjoy the time I have to sew more. Plus she will be happy that I can get errands done with out dragging her with me.

It will be good, but I am a little sad that she is growing up so fast.

  96. I'm frazzled about school! We just moved to the Houston area and I have a rising senior. Getting the TN school to communicate, send records, having classes transfer, updating shots, etc has been insane! I hope we can actually have him in class tomorrow. Even tho today was the first day of school they didn't have time to see him about registering until this afternoon! Crazy!!

Also I'm a bit scared. High schools are scary and I hate that he had to transfer schools his senior year!

    ReplyDelete
  97. Well I don't have kids in school. I used to be a teacher though and I am a little sad I am no longer teaching. Does that count? Also, I love your blog and I loved your coupon class the other night. I learned tons! PS your coupon blog is my favorite.

    ReplyDelete
  98. Well my daughter just turned one so no school for her yet but I have been helping get my sisters 3 kiddo's ready for school. Also I was part of our committee at work to provide school supplies for employees families in need. Felt amazing to help everyone out and know that they will have everything they need for school. However this has made me fall behind with my coupon clipping and I need an organzing system to get me on track. Would love to win this binder so I can start getting bargains again.

  99. What an awesome giveaway! Thank you. I don't have kids yet, but because of the blogs and the sales I knew school started today. On Friday I was commenting that even though I don't have kids, I'm not looking forward to the start of school because of all of the school zones in my area. ;) ...but actually it is because I have commitments this fall, and I'm not ready for it to be fall yet. I still find summer to be the most relaxing time of year.

    ReplyDelete
  100. I don't have kids, but I work at two public schools. It's kind of bittersweet...I was excited to see my students again and I'm happy to have a job, but I miss the freedom of summer!

  129. We homeschool throughout the year. They do get a lighter load in the summer, and of course there are camps and vacations that they go on. Yes, we did start our full schedule yesterday, much to my children's dismay. Not sure if I'm happy or sad, I enjoy the little breaks also, but I guess it is just a way of life for us.

    Thanks, Lisa

  131. I am sad about sending my kids back to school. I like the lazy days of summer. I like going under the sprinkler with them, waiting for the ice cream truck to appear, catching lightening bugs, sword fights, picking our raspberries/vegetables from the garden and making salad & dessert togeth, and using our free bowling coupons in the summer. I have had surgery this year and it has slowed us down into having an old fashion summer and I am grateful to the Lord for that. It is a closeness I will treasure and never forget. I am hoping to win your binder as I need to get my coupons under control. I am a newbie and just starting out on trying to figure this out! I love all of your family stories and pictures, they put a smile on my face and have given me many great ideas with my own children. Thank you for all that you do!! It is greatly appreciated! 136. I have a 1st grader so she is a PRO now that she has been in school. It is her parents that need the help and oh, how a binder would help eliminate the chaos in our lives at this time..It goes like this:

    8/23/10 evening:
Mommy says days ago: We will be in bed at 8:15...Daddy says: Stay up and watch Wrestling with me! Mom says: NO! She needs to get in bed since she has to be up at 6:00 a.m. Daddy she will be fine! Mommy thinks..OH OKAY! This is gonna go over well at 6am!
Mom goes to bed & tells dad..set the alarm for 5:15 please! Dad sets it for 5:45 putting mommy 30 mins late already! Mom runs and attempts to wake up 1st grader at 6:00 am! Dad lets her sleep until 6:25! Mom explained to dad that she needs to leave to get kid to day care by 6:45 & herself to work! Kid eats breakfast & mom notices milk drips on shirt/skirt. Makes kid change clothes! Which kid is very upset since she picked them out.Mom explains smelling like rotten milk is not appealing to new friends! Dad says (WHICH HE FORGOT CUZ I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH HIM) that he will take her to school~ Mom grabs her lunch & leaves the house at 7am. Goes to call day care to explain she wont be there and phone is not working! (ooops...need a bill organizer too)~ So, we will try again tonight to explain the RULES OF MOM! Bedtime is at 8:15, Kid is up at 6:00, brush teeth, hair and wash face, eat breakfast, put on clothes, do hair, pack lunch & out by 6:45. Moms rules work! Trust me..I have been a mom 25 years (my kids are 18 years apart) This aint my first rodeo! Try explaining that to dad....

  142. I'm excited! I've got all these projects that I know there's not enough hours in the day for! A little sad though because my "baby" will go to preschool twice a week this year. How did she get so old so fast!?

  144. I have two girls, (and I nanny a little boy 4 days a week, so it's almost like he's mine!) Any way my oldest is 3 and she goes to Mother's day out program which makes me sad cause I thought she was going to be able to start pre-k. But she won't be 4 until 27 days after the cut off. Anyway, I am sad and happy cause she starts next week, but she will only go for a week until we leave for a road trip for two weeks. Then she will start again. So I have mixed feelings, but love that she gets to go and learn and play. (=

  146. We Homeschool and my kids think it should be against the law to start before labor day. We have rights they say. I can't blame them for being independent thinkers!

  148. I'm excited!! One a Junior in HS, one in the 3rd grade and I have 2 in a pre-k church program. I work part time and believe kids (and parents) need the break and the time to socialize with other children.

  149. I am going to be homeschooling my 2 daughters. They are 2 1/2 and 1 years old, they are both eager to learn. I have been following a few blogs and through them they have helped me get setup. I am SUPER excited for my girls to learn new things through their mom!

  150. Grandma of 5, I always cry when they go off to school. I make a "first-day goodie bag" for each, but they love the money best!! Cherish your children while they are young - those hugs stop when they get older!! Lala

  152. So sad to have an 'empty nest' for 8 hours a day. First time in 9 years I have been home alone. I miss my kids and would vote for 8-1 school hours. :-) Thanks for the opportunity.

  154. Patti,
My kids are older and in College or graduated from College...but whenever they leave to go back to where they live at now, 2 in Utah, and one in Houston, Texas with her family...I get very sad. Because we live in a very small town in PA there is no jobs and no activities for them to do here, so they love the Western part of US. So we only see them once or twice a year...not in the evening like when they are in grade school...So I miss them all a lot.

  155. I have been excited, excited, excited!!! Not only is Jeromy back here this year (YEAHHHHH!!!!), as you know, I just started my long term sub job at Wilkerson, which is by far my favorite school I have subbed for. I find myself wishing I had your phone number quite often. Would you like me to clip out all the baby coupons (already clipping... really no trouble)? Let me know anytime. Oh, and have a wonderful school year! ;)

Amy, I mean Ms. Lamb. ;)

  156. The boys and I are READY to get back to learning. They've been cranky, picking on each other and I don't think they even realize they NEED focused work. So I'm looking forward to the school year to start. :)
