Lets do it together week 4

I am so glad some of noticed I missed posting the Let's do it together section last week. I thought no one cared! I am really sorry and it will be here EVERY Friday morning for you to check in.

If you missed the original post you can go HERE. We are committing to work together and get healthier whatever that means for you. Please jump in and leave a comment that you want to join! For me I was really motivated to start jogging again, we have had nothing but rain for the past week. All good intentions have gone out the door. Even packing my work out clothes and bringing them to work has fallen thorough either with getting rained out or being asked to stay late. BUT, I have managed to loose 2.5 pounds this past week by really paying attention to what I am eating. So I feel a little sense of accomplishment instead of getting frustrated and quitting because my exercise plans have had to change.

I have to be flexible! That is something that I have had to learn. In the past if my plans would have to change I would just give up, throw my hands in the air and say it is impossible, I just can't do it. I don't know if it is a little more maturity on my part but I have really finally put my mind in a place where I can make changes and see the light at the end of the tunnel.

Here are a few great tips to think about this week.

1. Be Consistent

2. Follow an Effective Exercise Routine

3. Set Realistic Goals

4. Use the Buddy System

5. Make Your Plan Fit Your Life

6. Be Happy

7. Watch the Clock

8. Call In the Pros

9. Get Inspired

10. Be Patient

I thought #7 was interesting,

Your body clock, that is. Try to work out at the time you have the most energy, suggests Jason Theodosakis, MD, assistant professor and exercise physiologist at the University of Arizona College of Medicine. If you're a morning person, schedule your fitness activities early in the day; if you perk up as the day goes along, plan your activities in the afternoon or evening.

"Working out while you have the most energy will yield the best results," says Theodosakis.

This really seems to be true for me. Personally I work out better in the morning, or I start my day better eating well early on.

Of the tips above, have you done any one of them this week?

  4. I have been doing it, though I to have not gotten around to blogging about last weeks exercising. I have been able to run at least 3 times a week. (the weather here has been amazing!) As far as eating better, if you look at my blog you would think that I am not eating well at all. I am into making cupcakes at the moment but I give a lot of them away and my husband eats the rest. (ok, ok I eat one or two...) The biggest change I am making is incorporating more veggies. I will buy cucumbers, pepper, broccoli etc and cut it up to eat as a snack. It makes a HUGE difference in how I feel. I think that setting realistic goals is important, In a good week I can exercise more than three times but by setting the bar at at least three I know I can reach my goal even during the busier times.

  5. I love the clock one, too. I am NOT a morning person. My best time would be 11:00 at night or sometime in the afternoon.

Why do you do that to that little boy? It makes me laugh very hard but, really.

Are you juggling work with your couponing and 6 kids?

  6. Since i've given up sweets, fried food and am drinking about 60 oz of water a day and working out 4 times a week... I gained 5 pounds. How gay is that?

The trainers tell me that you will gain muscle before you start losing fat so pay attention to inches. ...whatever...

  8. Look at that! I double posted. I think I'll delete one of them. I'm not really stalking you. I just had to amuse myself by looking at the picture again. I am completely cracking up!

    {Check sent yesterday. Real one with my signature. You could probably sell it for a lot of money someday. Let me know when you get it.}

  9. I noticed that you missed posting last week also, but I understood since you do have 6 precious kids, work, coupon, and have a husband to keep happy. Wow! So, this week I did terribly at exercising, but I did stop myself from eating some late night snacks. Thanks for the push in the right direction.

  10. I am with you, but stress has kind of taken over the last couple of weeks. I was doing well on my eating until the past week, but I am hopeful that the stomach bug that I have had for the last two days will result in some pounds lost. :)

  11. Hi, I'm still here. Let's see...I started with you a couple of weeks ago, but had just started blogging, and I couldn't work out where your blog was..silly me. I had read so many.

So I finally found it and joined a couple of other challenges. I was very inspired just with the accountability.

I had a very hard 1st week, was sick, and was still feeling terrible going into the 2nd week, til I worked out that I'm not eating enough. (I'm still nursing too.) So I'm eating as much as I can now....well, a sandwich for lunch, as well as breakfast and dinner, and I have lost 2 lbs. I'm feeling much better now in the 3rd week, stronger too.

I've since realized there's a email for follow-up comments which helps a lot. I have posted on my blog each week. It turned into my 21 day makeover, although I don't think I'm going to stop at 21 days, I would like keep challenging myself. Otherwise, it's just too easy to flop down on my bed and hang out with all the kiddos.
