No crying over spilled milk!

Can you guess what happened to this gallon of milk?

Tonight while the big kids were at scouts and church, my husband and I did a little grocery shopping. I bought a gallon of milk. When we brought the grocery bags into the house and unpacked them, my husband set this gallon on the counter and was perplexed as to what happened to it. Soon after my son came into the house carrying more groceries and another gallon of milk... I had only bought one at the store tonight.

This gallon of milk had been sitting in the back of my truck for ALOMST A WEEK!!
It got forgotten from the last time I had gone to the store!
Can you even imagine what my suburban would have smelled like if this had EXPLODED??!!
I am not crying over spilled milk, I am crying tears of joy that it did not ruin the entire interior!

Please tell me I am not the only one who has done this?!

I have never left milk in my SUV but I have forgotten to empty a cooler of frozen food from my trunk. It took a week of scrubbing and airing out to get rid of the smell! It wasn't until I had a little one that I realized how even simple tasks can be difficult to complete! I can guarantee we are not alone!

When I was a teenager, I remember getting into our family car to go somewhere and we smelled this awful smell. We searched around the car and finally looked in the trunk and sure enough, a gallon of milk had exploded in the back. It took weeks until the smell went away! At least yours didn't get that far! ;-)

I know one of my boys would love to have that for an experiment (he tried making gingerale last week, and left it ferment on the counter for days).

But once I shaved only one of my legs and didn't realize it till the next day

My husband, in trying to help me, put away groceries by himself. I had gotten a tub of BBQ, but it was packaged with a box around it so they had stuck it in with some cereal or something. He put it in the cabinet with the dry goods. The only thing that saved us was that I was going to make a sandwich with it a couple of days later. It was still pretty gross, but hadn't affected anything else. :)

Several months after a camping trip discovering a blue rubbermaid container filled with what could only be described with the help of a team of forensics experts...that you thought your husband had cleaned out...Only two things to say...biohazard suit and burial at sea!

Last year around the New Year's I bought a ton of groceries to make appetizers and desserts for a get-together. One of the things I planned on making was sausage-cheese biscuit balls, so I bought a tube of sage sausage. It must have fallen out of the bag on the ride home and then rolled under the seat. I couldn't find my sausage later when I needed it, and thought I was losing my mind. About 4 days later I had to take our dog to the vet, and she was kind enough to find it for me during the car ride. She then vomited all over the poor vet assistant who tried to weigh her. Good times...

In Wisconsin this time a year that wouldn't be a problem. Actually last week my husband left the gallon of milk in his car because we didn't have room in the fridge. When he brought it in it was pretty frozen.

I'm not even going to admit how many times groceries have been left in my car, or food from outings or my husbands leftover lunch, or...must I go on? "What's that smell"is a running joke in our family now when we get in the van...yah it's that gross. Ha, ha...hey I have four kids four and under, that's my excuse for my forgotten messes...not sure what my husbands excuse it!
