Things that only happen to me!

As we left for vacation last week, (stay tuned for details!) I joked to my husband that we should have grabbed the photos because the house probably was going to burn down while we were gone.

See, in the past 3 weeks, we have had to replace the fan on our air conditioner, then the ENTIRE air conditioner, my 5 year old washing machine, my husbands tires on his car, and the air conditioner in my truck. I just figured our bad luck was coming to an end...

We had an AWESOME vacation and got home late Wednesday night. When we walked in the carpet was a little wet by the side door in the living room. It looked like there was a big stain. We immediately blamed the dog who doesn't do that kind of thing, but couldn't figure out what else it was.

The next day it was all wet and smelly there again. All day it was like that. Finally when Paul got home he decided to pull up the carpet as it seemed like it was coming from underneath. OHH MY GOSH!!! The smell was soooo bad!

Turns out, before we left my daughters had their combined birthday parties, we had a pool party and had thrown all the left over watermelon and fruit away in the trash. Since Monday was a holiday we didn't put the trash out but put it in the outside closet where we store the trash cans to put out when we got home. While we were gone and it was 100 degrees, all the fruit rotted and leaked out the bottom of the trash can, UNDER the wall and INTO my living room!! It was horrible!

Needless to say, we found an AWESOME deal on hand scraped wood on Craigslist, ripped up the carpet in the living room and main hallway, and spent this week installing it! I think it looks gorgeous and am really happy. I have wanted wood for a while but couldn't justify putting it in.

What was a disaster at first, turned out a bit of a blessing. But I still have to shake my head and think, who would have imagined that happening?!

No matter what happens you handle it with grace, beauty, and laughter...and remember it could always be worse. My in-laws are coming in town this weekend. Nuf said!
